Heartbeat is one of the core components of the Linux-HA (High-Availability Linux) project. Heartbeat is highly portable, and runs on every known Linux platform, and also on FreeBSD and Solaris. Yet there is currently no Heartbeat port available in MacPorts (MacPorts provides an infrastructure for building, installing, and packaging open source software on Mac OS-X). This has to change. MacPorts.info is the leading MacPorts tutorial site that is establishing this bounty to fund the development of an Heartbeat port.
